Professor Wolfgang Uckert, Head of the Research Group on Molecular Cell Biology and Gene Therapy
Born in the West, raised in the East. Several times Wolfgang Uckert crossed the inner-German border between the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic. But why did he always return to East-Berlin?
Professor Wolgang Uckert started out his research career at the Academy of Sciences of the German Democratic Republic on the Campus Buch. He traveled to Belgium and the United States on a travel visa in the 1980s. Today, he has his own lab at the #mdcBerlin, researching "Molecular Cell Biology and Gene Therapy."
