Their research is outstanding, and they’re also committed to the Max Delbrück Center and engaged in our community — Manqiang Lin and Artsemi Yushkevich wrote the best papers in 2023; Hendrik Bartolomaeus, Eleonore Adami and Ulrike Löber received the Postdoc Awards for 2023.

Young students are fascinated by the experiments they can participate in at the Gläsernes Labor (Life Science Learning Lab). Thanks to a special fundraiser, socially disadvantaged children from the district of Marzahn-Mitte were able to don lab coats and carry out some thrilling research.

There is more to cutting-edge research than pipettes and publications. It is often the inconspicuous everyday processes that influence success or failure. That's why employees who help shape the success of the Max Delbrück Center behind the scenes were once again honored at this year’s summer party.

And a celebration it was: After two years of virtual graduation ceremonies due to Covid-19, doctoral students at the Max Delbrück Center were once again able to receive their graduation certificates live on stage.

This year 45 PhD students at MDC successfully defended their doctoral theses. At a graduation ceremony they celebrated the end of an important phase of their lives together with family, friends and colleagues.

For the sixth time, the MDC has granted awards to its “silent heroes.” This year’s recipients are committed staff members whose hard work out of the public eye makes a significant contribution to the smooth running of the research conducted at the MDC.

A toast to our young scientists: On November 30, 2018, the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) held a graduation ceremony for the 50 students who completed their PhDs at the MDC over the course of 2018.

At the Buch campus’s summer party, MDC employees Marina Sitte, Signe Knespel, and Sabine Wagner were presented with the Silent Hero Award by the Society of Friends of the MDC. Each year, the award recognizes the commitment of employees who are hard at work behind the scenes.
